Our practice is committed to bringing the safest and highest quality of care to our patients. The installation of our digital dental x-ray system continues that commitment.
Dental x-rays are an invaluable tool when diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. X-rays aid in detection of cavities between teeth, determine bone levels and the health of bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.
While traditional film x-rays have been the standard for diagnosing dental problems for the past 90 years, digital x-rays offer substantial benefits over film.
Lower Radiation Exposure: There is 70-90% less radiation exposure from a digital x-ray than from traditional film x-rays.
Fast: The image appears almost instantaneously saving you time by not having to wait to find out if the images are acceptable.
Easy: Patients report increased comfort with the digital sensors placed in the mouth than the traditional film.
Fewer chemicals: By using digital imaging we can avoid the caustic chemicals used to develop conventional dental film creating a safer, cleaner environment.
Imaging software capabilities: Each image can be quickly analyzed using intuitive and powerful imaging software. Images can be conveniently shared with insurance companies and dental specialists. It also enhances dentist-patient communication.
One of the key elements in creating the most esthetic and functional indirect restorations is optimal communication with the laboratory. When digital dental photos are sent to the lab they are used in conjunction with stone models to fabricate restorations. By capturing tooth and facial features in the photos, Dr. Spencer works with the lab technician to identify specific characteristics and nuances needed to develop the ideal smile design.
