COVID-19 Protocol

Ontario is slowly starting to re-open, but things are still a little different.

Yes, the news is true! On May 26th in the early evening, the Ministry of Health announced that health professionals in Ontario were permitted to return to work to treat patients. However, just like every other business opening in the province there are new policies and procedures along with detailed guidelines that have been mandated from the government and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (our governing body) in order for us to open. We have reviewed the new mandated requirements and we will be ready to open to our new normal on Monday, June 8th with everything in place.

IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW:

  • Our office will send you a mandatory pre-screening COVID form the day before your appointment. Please complete it and submit it back to us before coming to the office. You will be asked the same questions again once you arrive at our office.

  • In this initial phase we will use a “Park & Call” policy as part of our social distancing procedure. We ask that you call us from your car once you have arrived in the parking lot. For those who have a cell phone, you will receive a text just prior to your appointment time that will give you the opportunity to text us back to let us know that you have arrived. We will then call or text you once your treatment room is ready.

  • Please bring a mask or scarf to your appointment and wear it upon arrival

  • We will ask you to use hand sanitizer when you enter the office. You will also find more pumps around the office to use as needed.

  • We will perform a touchless temperature check before your appointment. If your temperature reading is above 38 degrees, we will reschedule your appointment.

  • We ask patients to enter the office unaccompanied, if possible. For those patients who need a guardian/companion to accompany them, we ask that it be limited to one person.

  • Our dental team will complete a daily self-screening checklist for COVID-19 symptoms, and they will be wearing personal protective equipment including a gown, mask, face shield, and gloves.

  • Our office thermostat will be set at a cool temperature—please dress accordingly.

  • You will notice our reception area no longer offers magazines and children’s toys, since these items are difficult to clean and disinfect.

  • Once in the operatory, we will ask that you rinse with 1.5% Hydrogen Peroxide for 1 minute prior to any treatment commencing.

  • Upon completion of your treatment we would ask that you put your mask on again before heading to the reception desk.

  • As you know, we have always been vigilant about cleaning and disinfecting the office and we will now have additional steps due to COVID-19.

  • Our preference would be for payments to made using a debit or credit card through our point of sale terminal, which will be disinfected after each use.

Please note: MANY PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENTS TIMES WILL BE ADJUSTED to accommodate our new measures. You will receive a phone call, e-mail, or text to make any necessary changes. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience. We will triage and call those patients that have been waiting for emergency treatment over the last 12 weeks first. If you would like to book an appointment, please send us an email, or give us a call.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and patience and together we will all make this transition as smoothly and safely as possible. We are all in this together and we look forward to reconnecting again! We have missed you!
